$499 for a Cat5 patch cable!?

Additionally, signal directional markings are provided for optimum signal transfer.

Yes, because electrical current flows do tend to need to ask for directions, save them getting lost....... :D

The HDMI thing is a big con, but unless Joe Public indulges in some basic education, then stuff like that, and the undisputed kings of the groundless over-sell/scare-mongering sales (DSGi, anyone?) will continue to rake it in.

Personally, I've never spent more than a tenner on cabling......does that explain why I'm really poor at gaming - severe signal lag? :giggle:

Shurely Shome Mishtake - it has to be Cat6 at that price?

Whatever, it does mean I've got millions stashed in the storeroom here..... ;)

There are nuances in digital signals?

I can only assume that the '1s' are straighter and the '0s' rounder with this superior technology.

As usual you have to ask yourself "What would Wally do?". Of course this cable stops your 1s and 0s becoming 10s.

That's just laughable. The £1.99 ebay specials will do me just fine!

If you use cheap cables the 0's can rub on the sides and get damaged. This in turn means that they can damage your equipment by grinding away at the registers as they enter the chips inside. The same thing happens with the 1's, only they end up sharpened, and can puncture the sides of the components as they enter.

Tell me about it i used to have to sell Monster! :'( Management used to Rip into me if i sold a cheep philips one over a monster one! theres no friggin difference.

Damn, I got ripped off then. The last HDMI cable I bought was £2.99... And works just as well as the £9.99 one (half price at the time...)

Reminds me of a sales tactic used by a Major telecomms company on the advent of fibre links to the high street "you'll get faster phone calls than our competitor" .When I asked him to prove it and give me the relative time difference over copper ,and how they intended to sped up calls through their digital exchange ,he called it a day and went off .Pity ,next question was the differences between Nortel exchanges and System X .

Faster phone calls to the inlaws would be welcome mind, even if it is only 0.00001s shorter, it is still 0.00001s more of my life back.

Along the same lines, got a call from a company saying BT were upgrading our exchange and they needed to come out and check our equipment was compatible.

You need to come out and see if our ISDN30e is compatible?

Yes it might need upgrading

To what

erm

So BT are upgrading the exchange to something that might make half the businesses in the area need new telephone systems?

well

You didn't check our background before you called did you

urm

we sell telephone systems and network services

(in the old days it would have been Click brrrrrrrrr, but our system just comes up with Normal Call Clearing on the display when someone scarpers :) )

just shows you how much prep is going into sales nowadays NONE! just trying to make a quick buck makes me sad! :'(

It's as bad as the spotty yoof trying to get you to buy V-Power Derv at the shell stations.

No thanks, doubly so with the spotty **** patronising me about extra power he doesn't get. They should stick to paying high insurance premiums and driving slow cars.

Kinda the same with optical broadband, it may be optical up to the excahange but to your house its copper.
