what spec versus my octy 2?

Featured Replies

hi all

not been aroudn on here in what seems like ages.

I currently drive an Octavia 2L TDI PD L&K 08 plate. Its a brilaliant car and I have nothing negative to say about it. Practically speaking abit more room in the back would be useful and if I'm being picky the PD engine is a tad noisy at times

ANyway, its on a lease due for renewal next year and I'm therefore already thinking about the next car.

A superb is on my list, but I'm totally out of date with the latest specs.

So the questions to you all are what spec would I not be disspointed with and would be closest to or better than my current Octy L&K (which also has columbus satnav and bluetooth)?

thanks all!

I too had a 2008 Octy L&K which I have moved on to my wife when my Superb Elegance came along. I loved the Octy (I had two in a row) and the L&K, like yours was fully loaded. Once I took a test drive in the Superb I was smitten. The 170 cr engine is a peach and when I get into the Octy nowadays i hate the noise from the engine although I was happy with ithe sound for 5 years. The Superb also drives far better with far superior suspension and noise surpression, and the extra length soon becomes second nature. I would not go back to the Octy now although in my opinon the Superb does not appear to be such a solidly built car which is probably in pusuit of a little weight saving. The only worry I have at this point is all the fancy electical features may be a step too far for dealers unless their staff get better training.

Ther is nothing on the road at the moment which offers so much for such a reasonable price. You could pay the same for a fairly well specced Golf which would still not have the same amount of "toys" or space.

Get your order in pronto if you want my opinion.

Having previously owned an Elegance Octavia - with extras the only thing different to an L&K was the lack of Memory seats - I would have to say go for the Elegance Spec (highest spec) Superb otherwise you may be a little disappointed.

The Elegance spec is huge and you'll get more than your current L&K! Engines - go for the 170 CR, by far the best allround performer - you will not be disappointed!

If it were me I'd go for the SE and upgrade with any extras I wanted. The Elegance has 18" wheels and the SE has 17", so you ought to try both if you can and check whether you prefer the firmer ride.

The only downside to my otherwise excellent Octavia vRS is the firm ride on 18" wheels.

Smart move - best get your order in now then and you might get it in time! ;)

I went for the Elegance over the SE as I wanted the Xenons (with the adaptive lights switchable for continental driving), full leather, integrated bluetooth and the sat nav. The others are just nice to have especially the heated and electric seats. If I could I'd swap the 18" alloys for 17" ones for the small ride improvement but the dealer says no so they'll be an offer on here sometime in September.

So is it possible to spec an SE up to the elegance level? Would It make finamcial sense to do so?

The Columbus and bluetooth is a must - if not only for work, but Also for the great stereo with the hard disk which I've really got used to! I listen to A LOT of music on the go. May even consider uprading to the 10 speaker system.

Also does the superb have the hill hold start thingy?

Thanks for opinions so far

I have not looked into it, but doubt it will pay you to upgrade an SE over buying an Elegance. The sat-nav and lights alone would make up most of the price I would guess (and the lights are well worth having)

The hill hold is an option (at least here in Ireland) but one I think is well worth getting, if you get used to it like I have you will never want to drive a car without it again

absolutely, that's exactly the case with me as I have it on the Octy L&K....I often forget I don;t have it when I jump into SWMBO's car!

I looked up my copy of my order and it says that the hill hold was part of the optional "esp full program". also the headlights on the elegance are fantastic and worth every penny.

so why don't they do an L&K version of the superb?

I wonder what they could add to put the spec up even further?

Perhaps the L& K could have metallic paint as standard and (as written on another thread) maybe they will include an umbrella!!

they could add...

metallic paint

auto-dimming rear view mirror

front and rear parking sensors (park assist)

hill hold

rear side air bags

Upgraded stereo (10 speakers)

nets in the boot

Heated washer nozzles

ipod interface

choice of 17" or 18" wheels

mats

I'd buy it!
