Auto Wipers

Featured Replies

The auto rain sensing wipers on my new Octavia Elegance Estate have a mind of their own, don't always wipe when you want them or they go to max when there's no need, also they have been known to wipe when in the garage, which coincidently has a new roof and doesn't leak. The rear wiper also puts in the occasional wipe when the rear screen is completely dry. My local dealer has suggested disconnecting the sensor connection to the on board computer, but I don't think this is the right way to go about fixing the problem. Has anyone any better ideas?

Welcome to the world of auto wipers. From what i've read and my own it reall is a case of 'They all do that Sir .....'

There fobbing you off, got auto wipers here, good as gold. I always leave it in the auto position all the time. Done the same with my previous Mazda6. I have the sensitivity on the mid range setting.

There rear does not have a sensor so if they are wiping without you flicking the switch its a fault.

Clean the glass on the sensor, I use Carlack Glass kit to polish and seal the glass, the extra beading helps the sensor detect water I think. In any case don't see how they can tell you to disconnect it, what happens if the radio plays up, do they ask you to remove it?

Think i'll give that a go then. I find I'm always flicking the sensativity switch or sometimes it's impossible to see out !

got autp wipers on my elegance fsi 05 reg my wipers work fine alway on auto setting the back one is not auto only works if put car in reverse

Does not sound right. Even the auto wipers on my wifes old Clio worked better than you describe!!!!!! and that did not have the best electrics reliability.

I got fed up with them on my last Octy so didn't bother specifying this time - the mid point on the intermittent seems to do the job just fine for me.
