vRS poor fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Hi,

According to a phone application 'Mileage' I am only getting 33mpg! The trip computer usually reads high 40's. I trust the phone app more though. You put in litres and the odometer reading on each fill up, so it knows how far you've travelled and how many litres of fuel you've used... I always fill up to the brim when the dash light comes on (~38/39 litre fill up so the pumps say...)

Seems a bit poor considering most people reckon they get high 40's. Is there anything I can check? It seems to drive OK...

Cheers

Oh, wait. Setting the fuel economy units to imperial gallons helped. 40.16mpg...whoops!

So in other news... have a picture :-) Wheels need cleaning better mind.

The trip computer is only a guide, the only sure way for accurate readings is go by the amount of fuel put in by the fuel pumps at the garage and divide that into miles covered.

As you've now discovered 40mpg then this is not bad if it's town driving or you have a heavy right foot.

The daily work trip is only about 10 miles... half of it town style.... and a heavy right foot, so yeah, it's probably fine :giggle:

Thanks!
