Felicia - suspension / wheels

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I have got a 1.6 GLXi T reg Felicia at the momment. I must say, I am VERY pleased with it. The radio was not very good, so I stuck a Pioneer in it instead (MP3/CD etc). I used to have my Mum's 1.3 GLXi (old P reg) before this. For those of you who do not know, the 1.3 is VERY different to the 1.6 :).

Anyway, if I was to get some new wheels and suspension for this machine, what would you recomend? I would like to drop the suspension by: 40 - 50mm (rough guess). It currently has the standard wheels and suspension. Any help would be a great :) !!

Cheers,

James

The 1.6 is a propper little rocket, nearly did myself an injury in a 1.6 Pickup the other week, jesus them things are tricky.

I think ive still got some coilovers left over from our old Favorit rally car, i'll have a hunt for them, they may need cleaning up etc but if I can find them would you be interested?

Thanks for the offer. I am only looking at the moment. I would like to try and get some wheels for it within the next 2 months or so (15" or 16", not sure, what would you recommend?). Any ideas on how these 2 mods (suspension and wheels) would effect insurance? I am only 18, so they may have a field day :).

On another note, do you know what the engine is? I have heard it was a Polo engine. Any help would be great. Thanks again,

James

Yeah its a 1.6 Polo/Ibiza engine.

Good little lump that one.

Re the wheels, when I was in my Skoda dealer, they had a selection of Skoda alloys in 15" at knockdown prices. Out of interest, why change the wheel size? If you are worried about insurance, why not get some really good tyres? I reckon they'd be of more benefit and you don't have to tell the insurance co.

You've got a good point about the insurance :). I just want to get a different look about the car, and an extra inch on the width of the tyres would be good. If I was to get Alloy's, what size would you recommend?

Cheers,

James
