Electric windows swapped over this morning

Featured Replies

Why does it do this? The first time I realised it had done it, I had that "Oh ****" what's bloody gone wrong this time, as normally this swapping over is a sign of something amiss electrically under the bonnet, such as "limp mode"

However, full boost is there and the car drove perfectly for the 60 mile trip to another of work's offices... I only hope its reverted back to normal for my trip away from here at 5! ;)

Any techies know why this little swapsy over could occur, just on its own?

Was the car upside down? ;)

You weren't the only one thinking that, Jon....

Jason - the fabia does the window-control-swapping now and again. I suppose it thinks it's funny to mess with your head occasionally. Turning the ignition off and back on (preferably NOT when driving along) seems to cure it...

Seem to remember Ross mentioning that because it used a BUS system rather than lots of individual wires to control the windows, a small drop in voltage can cause the controller to get confused. Did the mirrors swap over too? :D

Don't start using the word BUS...

You'll confuse Jason as public transport is a new invention where he lives.

Along with electricity, indoor plumbing and penicillin ;)

 We've only just got TV down 'ere ya know! ooo-arrr. I think it will be fine later on, I just wondered really - this BUS thing seems to be the key then. :D I didn't try

And as for public transport - yeah, it sucks down here! Big time! Only good thing is a fairly good national express service direct from Exeter to Heathrow, with no stops.

Excuse me, due to lack of electricity I'm off to play with my hoop & stick in the street... :P :D

Luxury! :P When I were a lad, we only had a stick to play with! Jase, you don't know how good you've got it ;)

oh oh oh this happened on my furby too a couple of weeks ago, also the locking button didn't work. I found locking the doors via the little silver knob (oh behave) sorted it all out.

Cut to a shot of Jason, attempting to lock his doors with his shiny gear knob....

Lock the car with the zapper.

Unlock with the key and hold the key in the unlock position until the windows go all the way down.

You should now find that the window behave correctly.

Jason we dont need to know details about you playing with you hoop thanks :)

*shudders* that will replace a few nightmares!!!

I'm so glad to read this post, because I thought I was going completely mad when this happened to me, just the once, ages ago. (On a thundery night - not sure if was connected).

As flatfourburble says the central locking button failed at the same time.

Switching off, removing key, locking and unlocking with the remote seemed to cure it. Is this like rebooting a PC when it goes wrong?

Yup.

Its all PFM

Pure Fu**ing Magic.
