Annoying vibration caused by rear speakers

Featured Replies

For the past few days I have been aware of an annoying vibration at the back of the vehicle whenever I play any music with a bit of bass to it. I'm not talking about heavy dance music played at full blast either, just run of the mill music on the radio when its turned up to a loud but comfortable level.

I sat in the back when I got home to trace it and it seems its the upper part of the door skins at the back is where it is emanating from. Pressing on the door skins reduces it a little but not eliminates it.

Has anyone else had this problem? I guess I need to give it back to the dealer to fix?

Other than that, the first 450 miles have been perfect.

Do you have the standard 8 or optional 12 speaker setup out of interest?

There is one bass note that throws some vibration through one panel when its up above normal listening levels - sounds like it could be the same area infact but generally it very rarely does it on mine.

Mine has the standard speakers for an SE spec so I assume its 8. I guess I will have to get a tone generator in there and see what frequency causes the resonance!?!

I guess you could but Im not sure how that would help in sorting the vibrating panel.

If the dealer comes up blank I'd probably be tempted to remove the panel myself and use a little sound deadening matting on it.

Have you checked the bass / treble settings. We do get some trim vibes at certain bass / volume levels but turning the bass level down has helped.

Sorry, the idea of using tone generator was a little tongue in cheek. As this vehicle is only 8 days old I will give the pleasure of fixing it to the dealer - the whole point of me buying a brand new car is that I don't have the time or inclination to fix them myself any more. I've had enough of crawling under mucky 4x4s now, the novelty has worn off!

I had initially turned up the bass a notch or two as it sounded very flat with settings at zero but have now tried it at different levels and it still vibrates. I don't think I should be forced to turn the bass now just because a bit of trim is loose. The music I play is very varied so its not just because I play something that is particularly bass heavy.

Oh yes agreed wholeheartedly......give it the dealer to sort, was just a suggestion.

I have one panel/speaker that rattles on some notes (The Who - I Can't Explain) and it seem sto be the back left door.

I did find that there were odd squeaks and rattles - and when I moved the bottles and binoculars and CD cases from the cubbies they went!

AND - when we are on that note - does anyone else find that oddment storage places are not as abundant as they'd like? I come to YETIland from a Renault, which had oodles.
