Hi all, Im Andy from mansfield, notts.

I've owned my unmolested red fabia vrs for 6 delightfull years now, which took the place of my beloved mk2 golf gti, due to career change & a 80 mile daily commute.

Its been a fantastic, pleasurable workhorse and given me 110k trouble free miles. (til recently). There is however a part of me still looking for fulfillment................... Ive neglected my inner child for too long ;)

My job location has just recently changed (5 miles away), but unfortunately im not in a position where i can run two cars (another modded MK2). So i decided to join briskoda and have spent the past month browsing.

Which brought me to the decision of keeping my furby, because its a cracking little car that still puts a smile on my face with plenty of room for more miles of smiles!

However, that said, its becoming more like my parents..............Arthritic!..........time to satisfy the inner child! ;) and a new lease of life for my furby!

The current state of my car.......

Bodywork - How many touch up pens come in a bulk buy?

Interior - errmm, needs a valet

The bits that matter......

Suspension - Rolls around like the rear of a big lady sat at the back of a double decker going round the nurburgring

Bushes - Ermm........Where have they gone?

MAF - Recently replaced

EGR - Also replaced, no more oil soaked engine

Turbo - Recently changed, out with the kkk and in with the garrett

Boost - Still not achieving values (low 1400) due to.............

SMIC - Had It! thanks to the last turbo over boosting,..........ripped clip and pipe out, new pipe fitted.......still the same, blows pipe off smic connection ........damaged

MOT - Due in 6 weeks!

My thoughts so far & help / advice needed......

Suspension - I'm thinking of weitec ( i could be wrong), but not sure whether to go coilovers or not, i had bilstein on my mk2 yrs ago, and was great but would be to firm for the roads of today, the roads near me, are an enthusiasts nightmare! anything comparable to the set up of the leon FR PD would be great, i like low but not slammed and ride height to be adjustable as when i find some wheels that i like, would like it sit nicely and road humps not to be an issue, unfortunately u cant try b4 u buy!

Anti-roll bars - havent a clue here

Bushes - they're all ready for changing, im thinking of the cupra console bushes, does anyone know the part no.s and for the all the others that i need etc

FMIC - are there any other options other than forge, that dont require modifications, if not can is there anyone who knows where i can get the forge kit any cheaper than £650

PD160 trumpet etc - already bought, thanks to recent posts by you guys

Exhaust - miltek decat back

REMAP - im contemplating Custom Code / Shark, any thoughts? i want to utilise the mods, but dont wanna ring its neck at the same time! I like the idea of Shark's smokeless remap and the sts, Ben at Shark was very helpful!

I've probable missed a few things, if so, please let me know, i like to get all the things i need and fit them all at once........weekend transformation! (hopefully)

Front upper strut and rear ARB for starters is the best £200 on the car you can get (imo). think upper front was from the seat dealers :wonder: check out the sticky on the forum.

the rear ARB prefered on here is/was the whiteline, thats from various places, Jabba has one too but thats non adjustable.

Whilst your in Seat dealer you can get the bushes etc (all in that sticky thread), along with splitter if you so wish (aesthetics).

Thanks for that, just been to seat, momo strut brace and console bushes on order. seems to be alot of mixed opinion on the rarb, whiteline seems alot of messing getting it to fit or have they made one that is a str8 bolt on job, and the jabba sounds like its gonna rip my car apart on the pot holed country roads round here :(

with regards to suspension, is there much subtle difference in ride quality between the weitec ultra gt and the hicon coilovers? i apreciate the coilovers are height adjustable, but how firm are they in comparison.......... i dont want my moobs to be numb after a few country lanes. i've no experience of coilovers at all.

Re boost - what does 1400 mean and how is this being measured? If it's 1400 mbar, this is obviously 1.4 bar, which is about right for full boost pressure on stock engine. :)

Rear ARBs - can choose between whiteline (cheaper) or Jabbasport one (Better in my opinion)

Bushes - Cupra PD160 ones are a good replacement. I have them in mine.

Exhaust - A cheap mod is to remove the cat & backbox and replace with straight pipes, leaving the rest stock. Can stick a fancy tail on the end if wanted too

Remap - STS is a good device and I like the switchable nature of it. I ran something similar myself although recently changed to another setup

EGR - Thought about EGR replacing race pipe? Will never get clogged up again! I'm sure the STS can be made to map out the EGR as well.

As above says, smaller mods like EGR delete, elephant hose mod (CCV mod) and pikey vent mod, helps the car.

it seems the low boost was due to the boost pipe being ripped out of the smic. ....... its well and truly buggered!... :D ..........needs ally welding!!

so ive nearly got all things needed for my weekend transformation.
