Strut braces, lowering, dampers - whats best??

Featured Replies

Ladies and gents,

Your opinions please........

If you want to improve the suspension set up of a standard Octy, which is best?

What is the difference in the various types of upgrades, and what are they good for?

Why buy lowering springs over strut braces etc??

So many questions, so little time. ;)

It depends on what you don't like about the standard suspension really, is it too soft for you? Does it roll too much? Let us know that and then you should get some response..

Not an Octy, but on my Fabia I opted for the Eibach springs and dampers as my car got "bouncy" at motorway speeds and also on uneven roads. It also had a lot of body roll. Replacement suspension means it now rides the roads better, sits 40mm lower, and also goes round corners much better :D There is still some body roll though, which would only be reduced with a stiffer ARB and struts. So far I only have a front upper strut brace, but a rear one is on order (or will be when I've put the money aside ;))

I think it depends whether you want to address the ride or the roll, or both :D

Just added lower ARB's and it's made a huge difference.

Still on the stock suspension, and it feels alot sharper.

Dare I say it, the car feels better now than the last car on thin ARB's and coilovers.

I'll try to get some before after shots from Angelsey.
