Knocking Noise coming from front.

Featured Replies

Got a fabia VRS 03 (55000 miles)

Over the last few months a knocking noise has started to come from the front of the car. It usually happens on rough road or when i go over small pot holes (i avoid the large ones!!!). It sounds like a dull 'thunk', the noise you get when hitting a nylon mallet against a metal block. The knocking doesnt happen on smooth roads or when cornering, but i can get it to do it if i voilently swerve the car from side to side.

I told a friend about it & he reckons that its probably the anti-roll bar joint that needs replacing. Does this sound right? If so does anyone know how much a pair should cost (i'll replace both sides)

Cheers.

I presume you mean the anti-rollbar links. Think they will set you back about 15-20 pounds each.

They make a continuous knocking noise, just had mine relpaced, or it could be suspension bushes?

Yeah i meant the links.

With the car stopped, I've bounced the front of the car in both corners (pushing down hard on the wing) & i can't re-create the noise; it only seems to happen with the car moving on uneven road. Plus the 'bounce' stops almost immediately & levels off so I think the suspension is ok.

Never brought off ebay. Wound you guys advise not to? Dont mind paying a little bit more for better/genuine parts.

Get most of my replacement bits from good old EBAY.

Just be doubly sure its the correct bit, by asking seller specific details.
