PHP in IIS6 = Brickwall

Featured Replies

I'm trying to run phpBB on this IIS server at work.

However, having installed PHP,and AFAIK set up the relevant directories and permission for the IUSR_Servername account, the damn thing still refuses to process any and all pphp files - they're either "file not found" or "not authorised to view".

This last one is especially annoying as I'm logged as the system admin!!

Suggestions? Tips?

(and before anyone suggests Apache or linux etc, I am restricted to an IIS-based solution :o )

I take it you can process html files okay.

If so is IIS configured with php for module or exe?

It's been 3 year since I played with IIS and php...alot has changed.

IIRC you have to add the extension and map it to the php exe/module/lib...does that help?

Have you set PHP as a trusted module? New feature to IIS 6, sets allowed / not allowed. I can't remember the exact name of the feature, but it's in the IIS configuration "tree" in the MMC.

If you follow the how-to guide on the PHP site it should work...

I've had it running on win2k server before, but it was very flakey. After a week or so it decided to generate errors when the server booted, resulting in a dead server (until someone went to it physically and clicked "ok" on the 10 or so error boxes)

If you do a search there's an enhanced version designed for windows (which is pretty stable it's claimed). Otherwise I think you might be pulling your hair out!

(I've decided against installing it on my 2003 server - i'll make do with ASP instead)

I've remembered - it's "Web Service Extensions"

You should find PHP listed, along with things like the IDC, frontpage and ASP. Set PHP to "allowed" and away you go....

Yes, all the mappings are present and correct to the PHP.exe.

All relevant user accounts added with read/exe rights.

Turns out that for some reason, the PHP.INI file defaults cgi.forceredirect = 1.

For some obscure reason that I don't understand, it has to be set to "0" for Win2003 Server.

Done.

Now that phpbb runs on this machine, got to go to another location and figure out why it doesn't like the database setup on a slightly different set up.....

thanks for the pointers. Probably be back this afternoon with the other one.....(realising I'm beinging to make as much sense as our dear ColinD..... :P )

And I'm back!!!

With the original machine too!!

Mid-forum creation, it's decided that "No Input File Specified".

What the??!!?

Nothing works, it's only giving me that error now, no matter what.

I swear I haven't even touched any code/any directory, nothing, just logged into it...........

Might have to find an ASP-based board........*shudder*

My employer is tighter than a crab's bottom, Col.........

I'm not inclined to spend a chunk of my wages for them (done that once, didn't even get thanked for bailing them out), certainly not after the debacle with my PhD fees.
