Why do the car reviewers have such a difference in performance times?

Featured Replies

Right first things first i dont care about 0-60 times as they are irrelevent in the real world within reason, so this is not what the post is about.

What im asking about is why there are so many different times of 0-60, 30-70 so on and so forth?? Some have shown in the 10's others in the 7's and some in the 8's. (These are all standerd vrs's) Now i understand if some one was going out on a road and timing by stop watch there would be a lot of things to consider tyres weather the driver ect ect. Surely its not done like that or is it??? Is doing these type of tests better on a rolling road or is that not producing a real on the road figure. If someone could kindly put my mind at rest i would be gratefull!!!

The actual 0-62 is 9.4 secs iirc

The 0-60 is about 8.6 secs.

Most magazines confuse people with the 0-60 and 0-62mph.

It does differ from car to car though as some vRS's kick out more BHP and Torque

ahh isee how do they test just on the road or rolling road?

I'd have thought a G-Meter or similar device, most don't do rolling roads unless its a loan car for a long period like Autocar did I think!

Also, gear ratio of the fabia on 2nd is like 58mph isnt it? pretty sure there are varying results from changing 2nd to 3rd too..
