back to the bodyshop i go :(

Featured Replies

if any of you have heard my SE fabia was hit on the drovers side rear quater as i was on the way home from ulitmite dubs in march :( jason (devonopia) will back me up on this the damage looked bad and was! new door, wheel, rear axle and bumper, the rear quater panel was saved thankfully and all was well for the castle combe meet where people couldn't beleve how amazing the repair was well............

on my way home from work (the bodyshop who did my repairs) when i stopped at a zebra crossing to let a group of people cross the road (high way code :D) when a idiot in a vauxhall corsa decides to rear end me at (what he says was 30mph) but felt more like 40 mph, i shot forwards luckily missing the now screaming group of poeple and end up on the curb, i knew instently the damage would be bad but :'( i feel my vrs might be f**ked :( the boot panel is bent so much its compressed the spare wheel, the bumper is needless to say un usable, the tail gate is horrible and back window smashed becuase of the impact, the whole back of the car looks like its been pushed into the back seats, thankfully my plans today changed otherwise i would of had my 6 month old cousin in the back and it's not worth thinking about what he would of went through as i have severe whip lash and can hardly move ;(

i got recoved to my work where my manager had a look straight away and says he'll do the best he can but it might be curtains for maisie (this is what my girlfriend has called her and had no choice in the matter)

it looks like the rear panel will need replacing, the boot floor pulling back into place, new tail gate, back window, rear lights, cross member, exhaust, interior trims and god knows what else :(

im hoping to visit work tomorrow to get full details of damage and maybe pics

Man, that sucks! You really are not having the best of luck!! I hope it is repairable :-(

Well. I sure hope the Corsa was damaged a lot!

It should be repairable and being an SE, is unlikely to cost more than a write off. New boot & screen, new bumper, new bumper crashbar, and some pulling of the chassis. Hopefully nothing around the rear beam area has been affected and it is just the bit which "hangs off" so to speak. :)

the corsa was a 09 plate but air bag went off, front end is mashed up,

i found out my SE is worth £8000 and insurance will pay out £6000 so fingers crossed it'll be back soon,

umm not sure yet jason but hopefully not, it probably looks worse than what it is,

could you txt me please? i lost all my numbers :(

is there any meets planned in the south west any time soon?

funny thing is my courtsy car (until hire car turns up) is a vauxhall corsa lol

haha very good jason!! theres 3 around where i live so it's possible lol

i rather hope my car will be back to it's best well before then :)

is castle combe another track day?

Same as last time, yes.

I have to say, that if the back end has bent enough to compress the spare and move the seats forward, cause the rear window to blow and to shunt you that much, then I think the car will be a write off.

If you have not got up to a hospital yet, make sure you do within 48 hours of the accident and get seen by A&E regarding your whiplash.

It will probably get worse overnight, but also if you don't then you may have difficulty claiming for any medical help you may need to get over it.

I've been that and it can be a long and painful road back.

Regarding the corsa driver, sod the corsa, I hope the driver has a moment where they realise they should wake up.

Even on a 59 plate, with a lot front end and the front airbags gone, it's going to be touch and go for it too.

and as cheeze says get to hospital/docs asap as it will effect your personal injury claim if you dont.

i dont think cars are ever the same with this extent of damage when repaired...try get as much of innsurance company as poss if it is written off and add to wot u get get off injury claim and get another mint se..good luck wotever way it goes.

if the book value is 8k why wouldnt the innsurance pay the book value?

Sorry to hear about this, hope your OK.

Think he means the £6k is the "write-off" threshold, which is typically 60-75% of the value of the vehicle.

thanks for all your support, it means alot :)

i went to hospital after getting my car recovered and doctors say i have bad whip lash and back muscle damage :( been signed off work for 2 weeks,

i spoke to my boss today who has had a better look today and he believes the damage bill will come to around £5500 so fingers crossed they repair her,

he says the boot floor can be straightened out and shouldnt be as bad as it first looked which is good news :)

my hire car arrived today :D brand new bmw 3 serise with loads of extra bits so rather pleased with that as my car will be gone for atleast a month :(

ill keep you posted with details and hopefully photos

Oh your joking, you dont half have some bad luck mate. Good luck with the repair

only downside it'll prob have a "cat c/d " attached to it which will devalue it now.. :(

That only happens if they decide to write it off and Simon repairs it himself.

was talking to a mate earlier who owns a bodyshop and mentioned it,he said if its got 5500 ish worth of damage he'd be amazed if it was repaired as they are never the same when the floor etc has twist in it as they are never the same really ...only his opinion of course.

thanks for your best wishes guys :)

i called my boss today and he told me he put the car on a straightening jig today to see how bad the damage is and he and a very talented panel beater think that it'll take a day and a half of jig and panel to get maisie straight and true but they are 90% sure that she will come out good ;) said they have seen worse and got them back to how they were to the nearst mm,

all parts together (including extra lil bits) come to £2500 and the labour and paint ect will be around £2000, all this information has been sent to his insurance company and should be accpeted tomorrow or saturday.

my neck and back are easing up now and going to attempt to drive the beemer tomorrow :D

thanks for your support guys

Metal can be replaced, you can't.

Glad your ok, and that you didnt have your cousin in the car or that could of been very nasty.

Hope you and the car make a full recovery.

i feel slightly lucky as we had a 2010 "10" plate renault clio in on the 3rd of march which had hit a deere on the way home on the 1st with only 30 miles on the clock, we replaced the whole front end which took 3 weeks, less than 2 weeks later he returns with a smashed up front and back end, turns out he over took a mini cooper on a duel carrage way and the mini driver got road rage and undertook him then slammed his brakes on so the clio went into the back and then another car went into the back of the clio at high speed writing the clio off!! in total the owner had drove only 200 miles!!!

"my neck and back are easing up now and going to attempt to drive the beemer tomorrow :D "

no..your still in agony.. ;)

hope the repair goes well.
