Škoda Auto presents model year 2011

As part of its model care, Škoda Auto is presenting a number of changes for 2011, particularly in the engine portfolio. Yeti will be fitted with a new 1.4 TSI (90 kW) and Superb with a new 2,0 TSI (147 kW).

The new units are based on the modern common rail technology that is going to replace the older PD system (pump-jet), and the manufacturer is also going to offer a wider variety of TSI engines (petrol). The trims in the respective model lines have been enhanced as well – design changes involve selected radios and interior controls. The smallest model line, i.e., the Roomster, Fabia and Fabia Combi, has already come up with numerous changes as part of its recent facelift.

“We develop all new engines in line with the downsizing trend, i.e., a combination of maximised effectiveness and reduced engine volumes. New technologies, such as the optimised common rail (direct injection system), allow us to continue reducing emission volumes and fuel consumption. We are therefore able to offer powerful, yet economical and environmentally friendly engines,” said Eckhard Scholz, Škoda Auto BOD Member for Technological Development.

The Octavia is going to offer a new common rail engine 2.0 TDI CR DPF/103 kW that is going to replace the identically powerful 2.0 TDI PD. The new unit will be available for both manual and automatic transmissions with front-wheel drive, as well as for manual transmissions with four-wheel drive and later also with automatic DSG transmission and four-wheel drive. The Octavia Multifuel has been certified for EU5 emission levels. Furthermore, the Octavia is going to be available with 16“ alloy Proxima wheels, the Octavia Scout with 17“ Proteus wheels (different colour).

The engine portfolio for the Yeti has been extended with a modern 1.4 TSI 90 kW combined with manual transmission and front-wheel drive, as well as a 2.0 TDI CR DPF/103 kW with automatic DSG transmission and four-wheel drive and 2.0 TDI CR DPF/125 kW with manual transmission and four-wheel drive.

The Superb and Superb Combi (estate), the manufacturer's flagships, are going to be fitted with a 2.0 TSI 147 kW (petrol) with a six-speed automatic DSG transmission. March saw the market launch of a 2.0 TDI CR DPF/103 kW (diesel) that has replaced the older 2.0 TDI PD 103 kW.

All changes that are part of the 2011 model care are entering into effect in Week 22/ 2010.

That's the next car sorted then ! Superb Combi 2.0 TSI DSG, just what i've been waiting for. 2 year old one in 2012/13 !!
