Headlamps do not work

Featured Replies

Hello:

I have a very strange problem. Two days ago the main headlamps of my 2002 Octavia stopped illuminating, both sides at the same time. When I turn the switch form the off postion to the first position the small lights turn on as expected. When I turn to the second/final stop the main lights do not turn on as before. When I pull the switch the front fog lamp do work as normal. When I pull again the rear fog lamp also works ok. If I turn on the far-illuminating lamps they also work normally. Summary: every lamp works ok except the normal headlights.

Any Ideas? I already checked the actual bulbs, and they are ok (battery tested). The fuses are also ok. What else should I check?

Thank you

Relay or switch failure maybe.

Or maybe the full/dip beam stalk has gone duff.

Pop the switch out and check the wiring connector is correctly pressed on.

Otherwise I'd say check fuses and relays.

Halogen or Xenon?

So, if I'm following what you've said correctly, you've got total failure of the headlight circuit that (presumes instrument cluster is same as EU cars) illuminates when the green low/dip beam shows, but the high/full beam that illuminates with the blue light works correctly? If so, I'd suspect a failure of the dipped beam relay, or the relay to dipped lights wiring connector having dropped off the headlight relay (which is the case depends on details of the wiring of this car).
