Finally the answer........

Featured Replies

To answer a question I have seen at least 3 or 4 times.........

I purchased another 18" Zenith alloy from eBay, had one of my part-worn tyres fitted (225 x 40 x 18) and popped it in the boot. No adjustment required to boot floor OR tool carrier. It was made to fit, so clearly supplying a steel with 205 x 55 x 16 or indeed no wheel at all is purely a cost saving excercise and this offers conclusive proof.

Few photos attached by way of evidence !

Worth knowing

Handy post

Cheers

Width would have been my only question mark re this. The overall radius of the wheel/ tyre should be the same regardless of the size of the rim, it's just how much it would stick up out of the boot floor that might have been an issue.

Hi Chrispy, yep and that was the question no one was quite sure the answer to. However the additional 20mm makes no difference at all and the boot floor is still flat and level all over. I'm well pleased that it fits, now I never have to suffer the indignity of driving with an odd black steel wheel ;-)

:) Nice. Steelies are horrible but extremely light. Fit all 4 as steelies and feel how fast the car is.....unsprung weight makes a massive difference to performance.

Could be worse though - could be a space saver. I'm still scarred from my experience with one of those....

Smashin!!! Just the question that had been on my mind too.....

Now let's all avoid a bidding frenzy on flea-bay please
