Fabia Highlight smoke?

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Tried finding some more info on this, wanting to give my highlights the smoked look. Seen a few pictures around here where people have done it, guessing its a case of removing the glass and painting the light inserts? Had a look through the search button but cant find anything on this? Any guides anywhere?

You can buy tint film from laminX to do them

I believe he means painting the headlight inserts.

Yeah its a case of removing the headlights, heating the outer edge with a hair dryer to soften the glue, remove the two screws on each eadlight then gently prise the glass from the base.

Remove the insert (two screws need to be removed) spray it then reverse the above emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Anyone have any photos of the end result? I've only seen a couple of photos. From what I've seen it does look good.

Yeah, I mean the inserts, do I just spary them with black paint then, do I need any special paint or any thing to do before i spary? Matt or gloss spary paint?

Pain in the arse to do, did it with my old car and, jeez, what a nightmare. Looks good, but couldn't justify doing it again with the hassle. Be better getting some Laminex tbh

There's a guide on here somewhere about painting the inserts, if you have any sense it's pretty self explanitory Though really. Look in the general guides forum I think it's there.

Make sure you sand the silver off the inserts before you spray them or the paint won't stick

Somewhere does an aftermarket version where this is already done...

like these...

give these a bosh for a £100

It's worth remembering that there's every chance of making a costly **** up when attempting to do the mod yourself.
