electric seat memory

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sometime ago, the drivers seat electric memory has become somewhat of a PITA.

When we first got the car (9months ago) all you had to do was push one of the buttons & release it, & the seat would move into the memory position.

For sometime now, you have to hold the button in to get the seat to continue moving to the correct position.

Maybe I'm just not doing it right anymore???

I forget if this should be done with or without keys in ignition, or, with or without engine running...

Help please?

Cheers,

Pete.

Hmm, I hardly ever use the memory buttons on mine - the wife's only driven it twice in 4 years - but I'm sure I have to hold the button down until the seat stops moving.

cheers

My brand new Superb Elegance estate has memory seats which change position when the car is parked.

The memory buttons do not seem to function.

Has anyone any similar experience - and a solution please?

You can set your key fobs to match seat memory positions so your fob might be set for another position, the manual describes the procedure.

If the memory buttons don't appear to function, they could be set to the same position on all three, alter the position, press the set button followed by either 1,2 or 3 and you should get a 'bong' from the dash. Then adjust the seat again and see if it goes back to the position you've just programmed.

If this doesn't work, there could be a problem with the seat memory controller.

Cheers for that but the buttons don't work at all - i.e. No Bong!

If I put the seat back as far forward as it can go I get one try to set and press with a bong and then it fails to operate again.

The seat movement does not seem to be connected with fob as it is different each time, and has only been observed happening once (when the seat back reclined completely).

That sounds very odd indeed!

I would be off to the dealers with that, dodgy seat controller sounds like a possibility.

Thanks Skodaphile - on my way.

My electric seat stopped working completly, to solve it the dealer unplugged the seat controller, reconnected it and all was working again. Sorry I don't know where the seat controller is

Failing that, disconnect the battery negative lead for 10 minutes maybe?

Finally stopped the seat moving on its own by a change of seat, but the no-bong issue apparently applies when (according to the manual) the seat back is raked to more than 102 degrees compared to the seat. It is described as a 'safety issue'!

Does anyone have the faintest idea what this is about?

Re the original post it's in the manual - when the engine is running you have to hold the relevant memory button to move the seat.  When the engine is off and the driver's door is open you push it once to adjust.
