Yeti - Sat Nav Permanent Power Supply

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone help me with advice as to where to wire my Tom Tom for permanent installation. I was considering coming off the lighter socket but a friend who is mechanic didn't thing this was a great idea becasue the power to the lighter socket is pre-ignition (i.e. direct from the battery). We could use the lighter socket if we really have to and we are considering coming off the stereo as we would prefer a post-ignition source, but any comments or suggestions from someone who has actually done it would be most welcome.

Cheers.

Thanks again. I aready have the Tom Tom power lead for permanent installatiion. Will you know how I get on.

I did a similar thing on my Octavia:

I simply used a regular spade terminal to plug straight into a switched live in the fusebox to connect up a cigarette lighter type socket for the sat nav charger, and then ran the wire up to the base of the A pillar and out onto the corner of the dash:

It took me less than an hour to wire the whole lot up and will take only a couple minutes to remove it should I ever need to
