Have I been given the correct oil?

Featured Replies

  I have just got some oil from the garage to do a service on my Octi Vrs. It is on varible servicing but due to the garage wanting

I too am a bit confused on what oil to use... there is a list here which has some oils on, but yours is not on it, and yes it does say 0w 30w

As your car will be on fixed service intervals if you reset the service indicator from the dashboard, your choice of oils is wider. If you want to use a multigrade high lubricity oil rather than a multigrade oil, then any oil meeting spec VW 500 00 (date 11/92 or later) or VW 502 00 (date 01/97 or later) is suitable. The Granville oil should be fine as it meets 500 00.

0w-30 is the standard grade for these cars, the 0w-40 is popular if you have modded your car and are pushing over stock horse power, Motul and Mobil do very good 0w-40.

I take it your car is out of warranty then?

yes ross it is out of warranty.... :(

I was quoted over

Pop down and see me sometime and i'll set the service schedule up for you if we can. However i think the min mileage you can enter intot he dash insert is 9,300 miles, doesnt accept any lower than that.

And as a little ****er if you had had a 1st variable service at say 15,000 miles. Then went back at 30,000 miles and wanted to put it onto fixed servicing you could have just had a 30k lube service which is just an oil and filter and paid about
