new turbo?

Featured Replies

hi guys i am new on here only had my red fabia vrs for 3weeks and the turbo has gone?!? i was thinking rather than getting a replacement standard one would the pd160 off the seat ibiz cupra would fit i am a machanic and will be getting this done under ext. warrenty at my work and will be fitting the part myself but it must be a VAG turbo so cant get a hybride one, can any one offer any advise?

could get a pd150 turbo of a golf

Most hybrid turbos are just vag units with internals from a bigger turbo. ;)

PD160 cupra one would fit but are quite rare. PD150 ones are also rare from the golf GT TDI. Both these are "upgrades" from the stock turbo on the vRS though. Turbos from PD130 Audi A3/Seat Ibiza & Leon/VW Polo & Golf will all fit right on (hopefully :D)

Or do you work there and are going to nick it :D

Welcome to Brisky...

For the price of a new turbo, you can be well on to the way to a stage 2 hybrid (still new) from the likes of turbodynamics. :D

You're right there, What a result!!

surely if that's the case you can just order a pd160 then and be done with it??

If cost is no object and you just have to order one....

That should do the bizzo.

hey bud what a shame, your standard side mounted intercooler is cooked aswell ;)!!

you need a new one, turbo blades etc have holed it!!

well looks like you'll need a pd160 turbo of an ibiza and the seat sport fmic to go with it!!

DAMN SHAME

ok guys thanks for the help

PD150/160 isnt a straight fit, you ll need to do a couple of modsemoticon-0148-yes.gif

What do you mean by straight fit? In terms of fitting all it needs is the housing rotating to fit the Fabia, rather than the Golf. Obviously other factors e.g. remap, clutch will help to make the most of it however.

My car is running a brand new standard PD150 turbo, all I have is a remap (among other smaller DIY modifications).

I say go for it - not everyone wants to chase massive figures by going hybrid. The reason why I chose the 150 tubby instead of the standard one, is that for the same cost you might as well have one with beefier internals

Si.

generally straight fit means that it fits straight on without needing to do anything else :o if you just bolt the turbo from a PD150 Golf onto a PD130 Fabia **** wont fit and you'll most likely/certainly have to take it off again

Well if you read it correctly he says modifications. I would not call rotating a housing a modification, merely using the parts that are already there.

but it's still been changed to make it fit? by that logic a remap doesn't count as a modification

we arent talking about something that will cost you upwards of 200 quid to modify though, you dont exactly need an expert to rotate the housing for you, just loosen a few bolts, swivel and re tighten. I get that its a modification but not in the way a remap is, its no more of a modification than scratching my arse to be honest.

back to the original post.

Get the pd150 or 160, it will be fine on the car and wont even require a remap (unless you want the full effect) all youre old pipes will fit exactly as they do now!

there is a possibility of a smidge more turbo lag but i didnt notice when i did mine.

As for the adjustment required to the housing once you lay the two turbo's side by side it will be pretty clear what is meant by clocking the housing! ;)

i wud call it an "alteration"

making the best out of a bad situation FTW emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ....emoticon-0148-yes.gif
