Octavia II Headlights

Featured Replies

Just bought an Octavia 2.0 TDi (54 plate). I'm very pleased with the car and really impressed with the fuel consumption.

Last night I used it in the dark for the first time and found the dipped headlight beam to be very patchy.

There were some patches of bright light close to the car but not a great spread. Cut off was fine.

Also main beam seemed high even though dipped beam was at the correct level.

Is this just a characteristic of these headlights?

Can't say I've noticed anything like you've described although others have commented about high headlights. Could just be crappy bulbs so might be worth fitting some Philips Extremes and then visiting your local friendly MOT station and asking them to align the lights for you.

By the way I see you're a member of Freedom with only 3 posts - nice one for supporting Briskoda! emoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Both main and dipped beam can be adjusted separately.

First thing I would check is that the beam height adjustment in the cabin is working correctly as sometimes they get stuck. Park against a wall and rotate the knob by the headlight switch through its 3 positions and watch the front of the car, both headlights should move up and down as you rotate the knob. The knob should be in the position where neither 1 or 2 are displayed, if only one light moves then you have a problem.
