Winter wheels

Featured Replies

I've read all the threads on here about winter tyres (I think!) and have been looking on eBay for something to come up but nothing so far. And if something does come up it is a bit of a mission to understand if they will fit or not. And then there is your car insurance. I presume they will do anything to blame you for an accident should they find you have Audi wheels on your car or some other second hand VAG 5x112 wheel...

So I think I have decided to just buy four 16" steel wheels from Skoda to be delivered with the car and the other dealer bits like the mud flaps. I'll fit tyres myself later. Now from this thead there is mention of a part number: 8P060102703C which are 6J 16 ET50 I presume. Will these just be plain black with no 50/80 warning stickers on them? They are for an Octavia. Or is there a part number for a Yeti version? From this thread the Yeti spare wheel is also a 6J 16 ET50 but I imagine this one WILL have the 50/80 stickers on?. The Yeti E however has 7J 16 ET45 steel wheels (according to this thread). Which is best to get for a winter set? And would either be around £52 as per this one on eBay?

Hi,

I went for the 7J 16 ET45 wheel size fitted with 205/55 R16 tyres on advice from my dealer, think the part number is 3C06012027M03C (invoice a bit faded). These retailed (RRP) last December at £35.66 + vat.

Also of note; if your thinking of getting Yeti 'E' Rif wheel trims I believe they will not fit the 6J rim.

There are a number of links in the Yeti tyre and rim guide which I hope are useful, the mytyres site sell rims with winter tyres fitted My link which is a possible option, although at the time I found buying everything separate and getting a local tyre fitter to put it all together cheaper.

The e-bay link looks like it could be an advert by Rainworth Skoda.

edit; another bonus of the 7J rim is the option of fitting either 205/55 or 215/60 tyres; the 6J will not take the latter.

Regards,

TP

I paid about £175 for a set of 7 x 16 rims for my Passat from my local VW dealer. I think they're the same as the Skoda items and they do fit my Yeti.

I used these last winter with Avon Ice Touring ST tyres.

They are black and they do not have the 50/80 sticker on them.

Thanks guys. I will go for the 7J wheels then. I won't get trims as I like the spartan winter look but will have them sprayed silver before fitting tyres. The £36 each sounds very cheap vs Rainworrth's £52! I'll see what my dealer comes up with. But after the £216/hour rate quoted by them to fit the mud flaps I'm not holding my breath.
