Online car discount question

Featured Replies

Hello!

First posting on this excellent website!

I am thinking about changing my current petrol estate and have a quick question about online discount sites such as broadspeed etc and the Skoda vat free offers.

For example, the 1.6 TDI CR 105 SE list price with Skoda is approx £17135 less the vat offer = £14080

However, the online site offers the same car for £14503.

So, does the vat free offer still apply to the online site making it even cheaper or is that too good to be true?

Many thanks

Most online people buy through a dealer so same deals apply

Get the best deal you can on line & then hawk it around the dealers, eventually you should find one that will match or be extreemly close if you prefer personal contact

Im picking up our new Octy tomorrow, Dealers a 2 hour drive but matched the Internet prices & gave great service thus far

Stuart_J , many thanks for your qucik reply.

So if the dealer gets close to the online £14503 I should still be able to take advantage of the vat free discount and finance deals ? That would bring the price down to 11964! For a new Skoda Octavia!

I would imagine the Broadspeed price already factors in any discount which means the dealer is currently cheaper.

I would look at the Drive The Deal price as this has been below the VAT free offer and hence gives you ammunition to haggle the dealer down. As an example DtD was saving me nearly £4.5k on the list price of the VRS I have just ordered. This was below the VAT free offer and I managed to get my local dealer down to very close to it.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick. The price quoted online will be the final price including the VAT free deal.

Think about it, do you really think you will be able to buy a new Octavia for 11 grand!

Many thanks.

I thought you couldn't get a new Octavia for that price. All clear now.

Thanks for the broadspeed tip I will have a look .

You should be able to the get the dealer pretty close to DTD etc.

Mine offered a small discount from list, then took off the 17.5%, offered 0% finance, and a reasonable part ex, and I was happy.

Les.

Broadspeed pricing appears way off. Best I've found is Drive the Deal.

DTD will do the same deal as the main dealer whether its 0% finance or some other deal. They are just brokers who source clients, take a deposit and then put them in touch with a main dealer. I have bought 3 cars though them and had 0% finance on one. Only problem with the 0% finance deal was that I had to go to the dealership to sign up finance contract. Still I saved £3500 and it was nice getting the car with only 10 miles on the clock ! Another drawback is they don't do part exchange and tying up the disposal of your car with arrival of new can be difficult. (Anyone see any grammatical errors or spelling mistakes?)

You can't get 0% on the SE model, you can get 2.25% though over 36 months.

Also bear in mind prices are due to go up on the 25th on all Octavias.
