New car - to vax or not to vax

Featured Replies

Next week I will pick up my new black (metallic) Octavia 1.8 TSI DSG 7. After reading the guidelines in this forum, I would like know if a new car should receive the treatment (vax/sealant) or if not, when is the most appropiate timing.

I have to mention that I live in Israel, with high temperatures and very sandy/dusty atmosphere for most part of the year.

Thanks

LOL.. You mean Wax

This is what I would do with your new car:

Follow these instructions and you won’t go far wrong:

1. Snow foam the car if you have one

2. Wash the car normally with preferred Car Wash (Two bucket method)

3. Dry the car

(If you want to polish the car at this stage, OK but it probably won’t be needed if the paint is good already..Your call, but wash it again afterwards if you do..I use AG SRP)

4. Apply Poorboys Black HoleGlaze to the whole car, buff off and apply again..2 coats

5. Wipe the whole car with a wet cloth and dry again*

6. Apply Poorboys EX-P to the whole car, buff off and apply again and then again..(3X is even better)

Might seem excessive, but it makes it shine more.

7. Leave for at least an hour to cure

8. Damp cloth the whole car, to remove dust and aid the curing*

9. Apply Collinite 915 or Autoglym Hi Def Wax to a panel at a time until it hazes, apply sparingly....

10. Leave an hour

11. Damp cloth the car again*

12. Apply second and last coat of Collinite or AGHDW

13. Apply EX- P sealant to wheels or Poorboys Wheel Seal..Buff off immediately..2 coats if you’re not knackered by now
