Fuel Consumption

Featured Replies

I drove to work today for the first time in my 06 2.0 PD TDI 140 Octavia which I only picked up on Sunday.

Anyway I set the trip computer when I left home and chaecked it when I got back this evening.

The journey is 54 miles of Aroad driving and the car reckons its done 67.4 MPG!!

How accurate will this be? I wasnt hanging around either!

I cant believe the power this car has and how refined it is at 60 - 70 MPH!!

That sounds like excellent fuel consumption, my DSG equipped pd 140 will just about get 40-45 mpg though that is on a much shorter journey, the only sure fire way to check this is reasonably accurate( it won't be spot on) is to do a brim to brim mileage measurement and work out the average consumption from that. I agree that it is quite smooth and refined cruising at 60-70 MPH.

Sounds good that. The over / under-read varies. My old PD105 was +10%, my PD170 is -4%. Only thing to do is do a few brim to brim measurements. I highly recommend spritmonitor.de (click the mpg link in my sig).

My old PD140 Elegance DSG would regularly return 50-55+ mpg depending on my driving.

My new CR170 vRS is returning only 44-46 on average, but I guess this is because the car is brand new, and the PD was well run in (51K)

My vRS does around 45 - 50 normally, but sometimes on a certain journey (to my best mates place) I can get it to mid 60's on the computer, but thats down hill most of the way. On the way back - uphill - can be down to 40!

Cant wait to do a brim to brim comparison! Ive been used to 28 - 29 MPG so hopefully I will double my MPG in real world figures!

50+ out of my Scout on the way to work, mainly B roads, mid forties on A roads.

55-60mpg from my 140 PD DSG with a Shark map on it. First time I had it on though I managed 63mpg from Chesterfield to Stroud!

So far I am saving about £700 / month on diesel (My last "car" was a Mercedes Vito 3.2L V6 diesel mapped to around 300 bhp!)

My old 140 PD hatch used to show about 50-53 on the trip but when checked brim to brim had done about 47. Then after taking it in for a service I suddenly noticed it was averaging about 58-59 and regularly doing 60+ on single journeys Thought it was to go good to be true and when checked brim to brim it was still about 47 :wonder: When I asked at the garage they swore blind they hadn't altered anything on the ECU to cause the change in reported mpg Hmmmm! The new 140 PD 4x4 is showing about 45-46 average on the trip (occasionaly 50 for single journeys) and is actuallu about 43.

I never get any less than 55 mpg, I've had as much as 71 mpg out of my Octavia 2.0 tdi estate. Returning home from the Lake District a few months ago, I got 65 mpg with 4 humans and 4 dogs in the car! Had the car for 3 years now and it's magnificent.
