Engine BHP specs

Featured Replies

Hi

HI ALL.

Apologies if this has been asked before but can anyone enlighten mme as to the location on the Yeti of the engine specs? How do you know which engine is fitted to which vehicle - no one seems to know! How do I tell if a Yeti SE has the 140 bhp or the 170 bhp diesel fitted. Someone said it was marked on a bit of paper stuck?? in the spare wheel well! Surely there is something more permanent on the engine or chassis or some code number!

Many thanks to anyone ending this frustration.

RegardsRod.

Im not an expert on the diesels but I think the boot badge differs also - an additional red letter on the 170 iirc?!?

Yeti SE is not available with the 170 diesel, it's only fitted to Elegance spec in the UK.

Indeed:

TDI = 140

TDI = 170

But if these have been removed I have no idea how you would tell them apart! You will know come insurance time as the 170 is quite a few bands higher.

Information on VIN may help (provided by TP) as follows

5th digit - Engine type:

B - 1.8 ltr./112/118 kW/petrol engine

C - 2.0 ltr. TDI/81 kW/diesel engine

D - 2.0 ltr. TDI/103 kW/diesel engine

E - 2.0 ltr. TDI/125 kW/diesel engine

F - 1.2 ltr./77 kW/petrol engine

As above ,always go by the KW rating either in the spare wheel well where you will find the sticker or in your service book( inside front cover,usually)

One other identifier is the data 'plate' on the drivers door frame.

The letters CBDB running vertically on the 'panel' are the engine type code. A full list of codes can be found here My link
