What sparkplugs for Octavia vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I need to replace my sparkplugs for new ones on my 2002 octavia RS.

What is the best to put in? My car is tuned to 210BHP. Do i now need a different temperature grade than a stock 1.8T and do i need to change the GAP?

i want to put in some good plugs and don't want to order them from the skoda dealer.

any suggestions?

After browsing over the internet i Saw that most chipped 1.8T engines use NGK BKR7E plugs. These are one heat range lower than stock. And gapped at 0.028".

Anybody using them in there Octavia RS? any performance gains?

Autodata CD2 lists the standard plugs as NGK PFR6Q gapped at 0.7mm. Jabba did not recommend changing the plugs for a different spec following my car's remap.

Even the standard ones are 6 quid apiece. Doubtful if you will get any gains using different plugs, IMHO.

Interestingly i've just had my sparks replaced at my 36k service. Economy has been improved by about 50 miles per tank! I can now almost always hit 300 miles on a full tank. I am pleased :D

LOL @ DaveU... i'd be very upset if i only got 300 to a full tank... mind mine is standard...

unless your running much higher boost and engine temps than standard there shouldnt be any need to upgrade the plugs over standard stuff... cant hurt though.

Denso IK22...

And you'll see... :D:thumbup:
