Mod 1 passed today

Well done

I did my CBT Saturday gone.... Just bought an 07 plate Yamaha YBR 125, getting all the kit (helmet, clothing etc) tomorrow and picking up the bike this Saturday !!!

Looking forward to a bit of practice on the 125 then it's DAS for me.

Good work  With over a thousand miles under my belt I'd definitely recommend some on road experience on a 125 before moving on (as was suggested right at the beginning of this thread).

Mod 2 passed emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Nice one, well done. How did you find it. Was it fairly easy or did they try to catch you out on stuff ?

Well done

Thanks :)

It wasn't too bad actually. I had a 2 hour practice session booked beforehand on the 500cc and I was *still* being prompted to turn my indicators off right up until the test, but didn't manage to forget on the test itself thankfully.

Passed with 4 minors, 3 of which came in the first minute when I got myself behind a learner artic driver - he was travelling at around 10mph turning right at a major roundabout, I got flustered and got way to close to his trailor - plain sailing after that though.

No tricks as such (no double roudabouts, no stop junctions) - the only thing that may be considered sneaky was taking me through a 20mph section, but luckily it's the highstreet area of where I live so I was prepared for it :)

So glad it's over though, I was just as nervous as I was when I did my car test what seems like a lifetime ago!

Hats off to the examiners I had for both Mod 1 and Mod 2 tests - really cheerful friendly blokes, put me right at ease.

Congrats m8

Thats good you got decent instructors,so handy if they make you feel at ease

Just had a good read-through of this thread. Lots of good information in it, as I'm a prospective learner-rider myself...

Glad you got on well, happy riding

I found bike examiners to be a bit more laid back too.

And..... I dropped it today :(

Parked up on side stand, got all my bits and bobs out of the top box, wheeled the bike back into a parking space and must have clipped the side stand with my foot because, having got to the right position and leant the bike back on the stand, gracefully down to the floor it went - crunch.

Moral of the story - don't move the bike around with the side stand out and expect it to remain there! Stupid really looking back but hindsight truly is wonderful.

Luckily the top box provided a nice black plastic cushion at the rear end, so got away with a scratched engine cover, bar end, mirror and indicator plus a snapped clutch lever - no damage to fairings or anything nasty.

Grrrrr.

Happy biking one and all emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

your going to drop it at some point, not necessarily crash it, but you will drop it,

Word :)

Meh, as long as you're fine and bike is ok too. I bust up my ribs coming off mine not to mention about £400 of damage to the engine cover and plastics and that was only at about 40mph.

Might be worth looking at crash bars or bungs for your bike. They're not expensive and you can always take them off later.

Thought I'd post a minor update almost exactly a year on. Had a good year on the Bandit even with the dodgy weather we've all been suffering. Picked up my new (ish) BMW K1300S yesterday, followed by a 230 mile ride home from Leeds to Bristol. Fantastic sums it up pretty well.

Goes without saying that yes I'm being careful :)

Be safe all.

That's a beast, have fun!
