K&N Typhoon CAI

Featured Replies

Hi, I've just won a K&n typhoon CAI on eBay. It didn't meet the reserve, but the chap has said I can have it for £55 delivered

I already have a normal K&N fitted and like the noise

my question is; is it worth buying?will I notice a difference in sound and performance over what I have now?

I know a lot of you have carbonio cai but I don't have £200 to spend!

wont gain any power

where is your k&n now if in the engine bay not coverd then you are prob loosing power

the best one is the standard air box definned with larger air feed if you want power gains

worth a punt if its cheap will atleast look good in the engine bay

Yes the k&n is currently just in the engine bay. I understand it probably is losing power

does anyone know if I will notice a difference in sound?

wont be as noisy as an open cone

but will still sound good

why would you have it in the engine bay the heat soak will be huge and loose you loads of horses :(

CAI are good for sound and not really that good for power. I only had the EBAY one with the PX filter on it and the noise was ace, but having the filter down in the bumper ment the filter always needs cleaning and even got some fine dust in the intake so I gone back to the std box. totally std with std filter adn its fine with pos a tad less power but not too noticable. its very quiate tho.

if you want noise and gain power over what you have now then def get it.

if not then get the std box back on, remove the funel by the maf and put a bigger air feed on it.

Clive: where is it definned? top bottom or both?

I not bothered doing mine, just gonna get a CA feed in the bottom half for more air.

Cheers for your help, so it's probably worth buying then. I presume that the K&N cone filter I have on now is the same ad the cone that will be on the end of the CAI?

Will the fact that the air is running through the Pipe change the noise?

Not really noticable.

I used to have the cone in the bay and found the noise good but I lost so much power. that was before I found this site.

I found out the hard way with remaps and CAI and DV lol

all trial and eror I am sad to say. to get the most out of a CAI you need it mapping accordingly but even then the std box with some mods to it is the best option even tho the sound is not there. I am back to the performance person for a bit now so hence the Box back on. but the sound of the CAI is just soo good.

for that price mate if the pipe is in good nic then its worth it,

if not Im sure it will sell for hat again

I have revo select plus so I can change my settings on my map anyway so it shouldn't be an issue.

Is there any difference between the carbonio an k&n?

price and make?

end of the day its a tube, so long as there is a good filter on the bottom its ok
