Vids and pics of Angelsey

Featured Replies

In an effort to wet some appetites, some vids and pics of ty croes over in angelsey.

Its a great track which really suits the sort of cars youd find on this very forum :)

Unfortunatly Ive yet to see a skoda there. Did see a Leon tho!

Best handling car I saw all day: A stock-hatch racing XR2. Best sounding: Ferrari 430 (just beating some 8k+ rpm Pug 306's). Most disapointing: Scoobys. Where is this unbeatable a-b pace the press rave about? Funniest site: Pug 306 oversteering into the hairpin everylap. Not sure if something was wrong but its wonder he didnt end up in the scenery.

Helmet cam of my first session. Im bit catious in traffic and my breaking is a bit ropey, just fitted some ferodo pads and they lack the feel of the EBC reds I had before. See how top gear kills the motor!

First of 2 parts of a 20 minute midday run.

Second part of the run. There were a lot of very interesting cars present, unfortunatly I didnt come across them on track :(

Some Pics:

Think im trying to explain the track to my dad. When we both have helmets on and the car is hardly sound proof I question my sanity.

Stopped on the outside of a corner. My dad and me have been known to stop on the side of the road and trade blows over driving disagreements....

One of the reasons to goto angelsey....

And some reasons not to....

thats fast buddy good driving love the little pug struggling around them corners lol

Now that's an interesting choice of track car mate, good to be different, is the engine a 2.0 out of a 220 turbo?

Looks a fantastic cct. to drive on, you got me wanting to go there now.

Like the photo of the sea in the background, it's like the reverse view from an infinity pool, great!

As for some of the other cars, looks like they are out for a Sunday afternoon drive

Yes, it is a lovely track and location. I cant beleive the only person, from all the Rover, ford and Skoda forumers I 'know' ive seen there is my next door neighbours bro in his BMW!

Yes, a lot of sunday afternoon drivers out, it gets quite frustrating. I was looking at my laptimes and some people were lapping hi 1.30's which is slower than a fiat panda....

The motor I used there was from a 820 vitesse. Rover dropped the motor in any car it fitted in, so effectivly yes :) This one had been in 3 different cars in in the space of 6 months.

And yeh, its funny watching cars that handle well on the road roll and slide around on a track! Mind the pugs do look fun compared to most other brands. I fancy trying my ST round it, shame the birds vRS got nicked that could of done with an airing.

  • 1 month later...

Nice pic's and vid's

That was me in the Leon ;)

If anyone does see me at a track, drag strip, supermarket, brothel, say hi!!

Do you go there often mate?

Went again the other day (ty croes, not the brothel) and there was a few more VAG's. No Skodas, but I saw an Ibiza, Jetta and a Bora. The Bora and Ibiza were diesals and were very impressive. The Bora was extremly quick up the straight and the guy in the Ibiza was giving 110%. Ill stick some vids up of them later.

J

Was the Ibiza a kind of pale blue colour? If so I think I know who it was and that car has been tuned quite hard! :D

Thats the one!

It was mighty quick, im pretty sure he was easily quicker than the Hondas and scoobies with the big corner speeds he was carrying.

Here it is, dropping an EK9 type R!

Its only a short clip as he let me past after 2/3rds of a lap (to spare my ego i think), I make a mistake as i pass him and get a bit crossed up simply from where i was pushing to hard on cold brakes and rear tyres to stick with him.

Ive done Angelsey a few times now I love it. Ive sold my Leon now and looking for another car thats why i joined here was thinking of a Fabia VRS but might be buying a Trophy to do a few sprints and trackdays...........

Im not going to rush into anything at the moment ;)

  • Author

Yes its a superb track, by trophy is that a Renault? Im thinking about doing some sprints to, you cant beat a bit of competition :)

I done it this year in the Leon but it was the wrong car to do it in

Because it was a turbo i was in the same class as 400 bhp evos and Subarus :giggle:

It was a joke. The class were Clios are in seemed a better class more even should i say..................

  • Author

ah, what tracks/layouts did you go on?

Yeh, the clio's are nasp arent they? So I guess it would stay closer and fairer. Turbos do make it a money/how far do you want to go game. What sort of tyres did you/they run, its a street legal class isnt it?

The only one i done was Wigan 3 Sisters but had plans for others Loton Park seems a good sprint course,

I used Goodyear F1's the thing with tyres they always seem to change the rules..............

3 sisters is a pretty small track isnt it? Evo's have wicked front ends tho so even if the straights arent there they still work :( I take it they give you a rolling start? Last time i got timed against 500bhp evos was from a standing start, so i was over 2 seconds behind before the first corner!!

I bet the front runners were using those special 'summer only' treadwear 100 tyres at the very least?? lol.

Well you know how small the track is: I done it in 56sec and the Evo done it in 46 and a new lap record. The guy with the evo is an oldish guy he was a nice guy loved his car,but he wins every time in the class he is in :|

And he gets a little cup he must have loads of them cups

  • Author

hahah, you sound envious of his cups!!

But considering he does it all the time..

What spec is/was the Leon? It looked pretty std?

One little cup would of done me just to brag to all my mates

I only done a few bits to the Leon changed the anti-roll bars, changed the brakes and had it mapped it was running 216 bhp.

I need to get another car soon and veiwing one this afternoon ;)

If it was to easy it wouldnt be fun :) But I do agree it harsh lumping all the turbos together. I dont mind mixing drive layouts but when 1 guy can pull 30psi @ 8k rpm and your at 10psi@6k its a bit unfair!

10 seconds probably wasnt bad then! I found an LSD and very stiff front end makes a huge difference, fwd becomes a bennifit then rather than a curse.

Is it one of the Renaults your looking at? What did you think?

J

Went to see a Trophy today it wasnt up for sale but the guy let me have a good look over one ;)

Its the next car i want and will get soon

  • 2 weeks later...

Some good vids there... would love to go back to anglesy.. i have very fond memories of the old track, and the brisky track day!.... Might try get on something towards the end of the year.. hopefully the car will be FI'ed by then emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
