1.4 MPI Fuel Consumption

Featured Replies

Hi,

Been a while since I posted here (and even then it was usually in the Felicia section!)

I'm currently running about in a 1.4 16v auto Fabia, and have been calculating the MPG I get from it.

So far, it seems to be circa 43-45mpg, with it dropping to 40mpg if giving it the beans...

how does that compare with peoples experiences on here?

Suffice to say, It makes a pleasant change from 28mpg out my BMWs

The 16v isn't the mpi ;)

I'm currently getting about 38mpg out of the Fabia MPI. It's ok, nothing major to shout about. But that is driving it reasonably conservatively.

45 dpesmt seem to bad considering its an auto. :)

Is it fully run in yet? Did you have it from new? :)

Also you could try a nice performance panel filter such as a K&N in it. You should gain 1 or 2 MPG + get a nice little bit of extra performance (for when you need it ;) )on your "rev happy" 100bhp 16v :) + you will save money (and the planet  ) on paper filters blah blah :p Oh and it will sound better to ;):giggle:

Ahh, so the 16v aint MPI?

Its an 03 plate, 43k on the clock...

no way it has 100bhp- I could run faster!

The automatic 1.4 16v lumps were de-tuned to 75bhp to allow for more torque so it compliments the auto box a bit more.

I had a 1.4 16v manual a few years ago, went from 50k to 70k in it and on average got maybe 40mpg so reckon your getting a decent mpg.. which means it must also be running quite nicely!

AFAIK, the early Fabia Sports had the 1.4 16v @ 75bhp too, but on a manual. And maybe some comforts? But thought nearly all 1.4 16v manuals were 100bhp exc the sport.

That explains a lot..

I believe its basic spec (whatever that may be..!) certainly no central locking etc..

Its a heavy lil car for 75bhp, and the torque is not too hot either...

Time to head to the for sale sevtion and see if there's anything more fun kicking about
