Drivers door won't open from inside.

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I repaired the window regulator on the wife's car yesterday and stupidly broke the door lock pin clean off. I thought that it really is not needed, so left it off as I could not figure out how to reinstall it.

I replaced the door card making sure that the door cable release was hooked on and secured all the arm rest. The window now works fine. but the door will not open from inside the car. I can hear the cable pulling on the lock but that's all it does. The external handle works fine. Pulling the passenger side handle I can feel more resistance. Would you guys have any tips as to what may have gone wrong and how I can put this right.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you can feel the cable pulling? ;) The last time this happened to me, I thought the same but the end had popped out of the handle end. :) Best you can do is pull the door card off at the bottom and using a torch look up and see what the cable is doing. :)

Do you mean the button on top of the door card is broken? If it is then the solenoid still needs push the pin upwards to unlock the door. The stub of the broken button is probably wedged on the edge of the hole where the led is. It needs free movement of the door button to operate all those switches and solenoids in the Door Position Control Unit.

I can certainly hear the cable doing something near the lock end. I will have a look to see if the cable is still attached but, I'm almost certain that it is.

No. the button on top of the door card has been removed completely. I have a feeling that I will have to replace that lock mechanism if I want to replace the lock button.

try pulling the handle harder? When I removed my doorcard I put the cable back on but didnt seat the cable holder part in it's litte hole, meaning I had to pull the handle further than if it was sat in it's holder bit.

I know this thread is from a long time ago, but I was wondering if you ever solved the problem as I've just done the exact same on my fabia

Thanks in advance
