I have a 54 plate 2.0 tdi PD 140 and until Friday the aircon was working well. On Saturday morning driving into town I noticed that the temperature display on the speedo and the radio were not functioning. The aircon has also stopped working.

I have a code reader, which has thrown up fault codes 18062 Please check DTC Memory of Instrument Cluster and 00779 outside air temperature sensor -g17. I have disconnected and reconnected the sensor this afternoon, then tried to clear the fault code but with no luck.

I now think I need to replace this sensor? How much should this cost? and does anybody know the part number?

Come on, someone out there must have an idea???

Managed to get an Outside Air Temp Sensor from a dealer for £17. Changed it this morning and cleared the fault codes, but the aircon and temp display is still not working.

I have rechecked the eingine codes and still have :

00779 Outside Air Temp Sensor G17 Sporadic 010- Open or short to plus

01317 Control Module Instrument Cluster (J285) Sporadic 013 Check

18062 DTC Memory of Instrument Cluster.

Does anybody have any ideas what I should be checking next or looking for?

I have finally had time to put the car into a reputable local garage in Uxbridge, they have done 3 hours of testing and still cant find a solution to my AC problem. Their diagnostics showed the same fault codes as above. To be far to the garage they have not charged me as they could not give me an answer. They thought it could be a couple of things but nothing definite including the aircon contol unit/ecu. They have also noticed that the fans on the radiators seem to have a mind of there own and repeatedly spin up and then turn off for no apparent reason.

I am really banging my head up against a wall with this, does anyone have any advice?

Bloody typical isnt it, talk about remaps and pimping your ride, and people are falling over themselves to reply!!!

Wonder if Ben @ Shark has any ideas??

And i have one fan on rodator but the new sensor its for tow fan on rodator

HI Dave did you ever gete a resolve on this issue, mine has been playing up for a few weeks now and apart from being annoying its stopping the air con working... !
