Xenon Bulbs

Featured Replies

I've seen these 'Xenon' bulbs on the internet, in shops etc.

But They are quite pricey and are they actually worth it?

Debating whether to get these for my Fabia....

Also these LED Brake/Indicator bulbs

Again, much benefit styling wise....?

I'm not sure what you mean by xenon bulbs. You can get HID kits with ballasts that fit, however there are legal issues surrounding fitting them in normal headlights.

If you mean halogen bulbs that are tinted blue, then remember you will never get more light if you cover them in a blue film, they just looks a bit more whiter. The bulbs with a high % more (X-Treams or Nightbreakers etc.) do make a difference in light intestacy.

I'm not sure about LEDs, so do a search on here for them,

Why would you want to change your brake and indicator bulbs to led when you can't actually see them working yourself?

If the car wasn't fitted with them in the first place, I really cannot see any advantage tbh., other than they seem to last a bit longer than the standard £2 bulbs.

As for higher % intensity headlights, bare in mind they do seem to have a shorter life than the standard bulbs apparently.

From what Ive experianced I can confirm that after market(so called higher power) bulbs dont last as long (on 5th set in 5 years in two different motors)as OEM's although it hasnt put me off buying them. Tried Osram, Philips and Halfords brands before settling with Halfords Super Brilliance and never looked back emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I've had the Halfords S.B. bulbs in for 18 months now, and so far they haven't blown.

Not the sort of job I really want to be doing on a regular basis though tbh. Absolute 'mare to fit and managed to lose one of the retaining spring clips.

£90 for a replacement apparently, but that did include the rest of the headlight too.

Waited for front ended Fabia to come into my local bodyshop to obtain one for free.
