Airflow Mass meter problems (i think)

Featured Replies

I have got a problem with my Fabia, it keeps cutting out at junctions and when its in first gear. It is also running like a bag of crap and I have the engine management light is continuously on.

I have been told by a machanic this is the mass flow sensor and been told to order an airflow mass meter and struggling to come up trumps. I phoned Skoda who told me that no such part existed on my car! Whereas, I have been given quotes from other places but with different part numbers to the one on my car so im a bit unsure. Can you help me at all please?

Car is a 1.2 petrol which is the main problem because they only do diesels or 1.4 so struggling.

Thanks Guys.

what is the part number of your mass air flow sensor which is currently on your car? i think it should be a bosch unit. let me know as I should be able to check it in vag cat.If you've got your VIN that'd help too

Has your mechainic had it on a computer as there will be a fault registered? On your car you dont have a Airflow meter but a air pressure sensor in the manifold

Well this is what confuses me. At first he told me that there was a problem with the sensor and then said it was the airflow meter. He put it on a diagnostic machine and the fault was the sensor if I remember rightly.

This is what he probaly means you need sensor

Dont suppose you got a part number did you?

The car went back on to another diagnositic yesterday and it threw up two other faults. Not entirely sure what they are because 3 mechanics didnt know! Which is helpful. I know one of the problems was something to do with the manifold and something being too rich.

Majorly confused with the car at the moment just waiting for the mechanics to get back to me.

get the fault codes is you can it would give us a clue as to what the problem is

Here you go just got the faults and will list them below:

16490 manifold/air pressure g71/596 not a plausable signal p0106

16556 fuel trim (bank 1) system too rich p0172.

Sorry to be a killjoy but the ebay ones dont tend to work properly, unless its a genuine part on ebay ?

No its not the genuine part from ebay. I know its not reconditioned and its brand new which is always a plus. Will see when its fitted and let you know if it solves the problem.

Hi mate! I know ITS been 3 years since! You've probably got sick of the car and got rid of it! I'm thinking I have the same problem ! Changed the air flow sensor and cleaned the throttle body as well! The car still seems to be having similar problems as before! Someone said that might need adjusting/setting the 2 together as I'm getting about 25 mpg at the moment!
