Help! Interior door trim repair / replace

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a problem with my mk2 VRS door trim on the drivers side. Where I put my big fat clown elbow (at the top of the door above the silver trim) has worn through and the vinyl has bubbled. I think it is beyond repair so want to change the trim panel (unless anyone knows of a handy tip that I could use?).

My questions are:

1) Is the panel in multiple pieces? it looks as though the top is attached to the door separately.

2) Is it easy enough to remove these panels? if so does anyone know of a good guide?

3) Does anyone know or have to sell one of these trim panels?

any help much appreciated!

thanks in advance,

Gareth

Hi there i had this problem too and it was repaired under warranty with no issues . from what i remember the top section is seperate from the other parts . not sure how it goes together though

Thanks for that, it is still under warranty so i'll try that route. I had assumed that because it was down to wear and tear from me it wouldn't be covered!

The majority of it is one piece, but you will be able to reclaim from your existing one:

The red alarm LED light

Chrome door pull and surround inc. tweeter speaker and grille

Door handle inc. electric window switches

Red/White safety light at the bottom of the door

Everything else is in one piece

Dont forget to order a few spares of the plastic clips that hold it on as they break very easily when removing. Only a few pence each

EDIT: Actually had mine replaced under warranty as well but I guess it depends on your dealer's attitude to wear and tear. Since getting a new one I've been concious to try and lean on the lower door pull instead - cheaper to replace! :)

I'm sure I've read somewhere that this is a common problem and is perhaps why Skoda are willing to repair it FOC under warrenty

Ive got the same unfortunatly trying to get hold of a door card from a breaker is nigh on impossible (my cars out of warrenty) anyone know a part number for the door crd? might have to try the stealers.
