Replacing Aerial

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Ive brought a new aerial for my octy as the reception is pretty poor so thought I might as well try a new aerial. Im a bit confused how to get access though. I have removed the trim at the back of the ceiling liner. I take it I need to remove the two cream side panels either side of the pillars but will that give me enough leverage to get to the bolt or do I need to do anything else as the liner seems to be stuck fast and I dont wanna damage it.

Cheers

you can do it without removing the two side bits.

just gently pull it down - you'll have enough room to slide your hand up to the screw, check that you have the right ariel connector first before any undoing as mine was a small square connector much the same as a fibre optic connector. yours might be different. search this forum for shark fin - as there is a tutorial for fitting one.

I did it on my last Octy to fit a DAB aerial. It's possible to just slide your had in with a spanner to remove the nut, but you have to watch you don't crease the lining too much otherwise it'll show.

I had no choice but replace the aerial in order to use DAB, but I wouldn't recommend it for any other reason. The factory fitted one is going to be at least as good as anything aftermarket and certainly a lot better than a chavvy shark-fin.

If reception really is that bad, the problem may lie elsewhere.
