Anyone near Fleet, Hants with a VAG COM this weekend please?

Featured Replies

It's not for my Skoda Octavia but my wife's 2004 VW Golf with the same engine/box (2.0 TDi 140bhp with DSG), she had the "Emissions workshop" warning come on a couple of days ago and then yesterday she got caught up in a traffic jam in 29c coming home and the car overheated... She stopped as soon as she could and let it cool down and I went to check it out and there was no coolant loss and it ran fine all the way home when there were no queues.

I checked the car over today and neither fan is coming on at all whether the AC is on or off etc. I pulled the fan shroud out and put 12v across the fans and they aren't working so assume they've burnt out. I put a meter across the supply and got 14v across the big terminals and -2.5v on the small (controller?) teminals.

So anyway, back to the point, i'd really like to get the diagnostic codes out of it this weekend so I know whether there is something wrong that caused the fans to go or whether they have just gone with age (5.5 years old and 88k miles) and also of course why the emissions light is on and the "Emissions workshop" warning is displayed.

I'm happy drive the car an hour's radius of home in Fleet so if anyone around for example Winchester, Reading, Basingstoke, Guildford etc has a suitable VAG COM device and would be willing to spare a few minutes getting the codes off our car I'd be very grateful (ie beer, wine etc etc)

Please email me: [email protected] if you can help, thanks. Peter
