Central Locking

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just wondering if there is an easy fix to this problem or is it going to be a trip to the dealer.

Basically I have an Octavia vRS and my girlfriend has a Fabia vRS. She was opening her car the other night and by pressing her keyfob it also opened my car which was sitting in front of it on the drive. We then tried it again and her keyfob would open and lock both cars!!! Not the best as you can all imagine.

Will her keys start your car as well? I don't think they will - but it would be interesting to get confirmation of that. :(

At last someone else with my problem!!!!

i have also had this....i think the problem is the additional alarm locking the car....my work mate and my gf dad has a passat, and when my car sync their keys, it opens my car aswell...

i think the problem happens because the alarm actvates the central locking system and its not coming from the VAG key fob reciever.

so what happens is when locking or un-locking with alarm fob it puts the car into a state where u can program a new key, this happens to be your gf key, so then can unlock both cars.

what u need to do is reprogram ur car with both ur keys and not your gf`s key. but there is a potential for this to happen again and again....the only way i found round the problem is make sure u dont lock or unlock both cars at the same time.

this looks to be a real bad problem

Do you have window closure as well?

dont think i have closure aswell.

this seems like it could be a serious security problem!!!

But arent they rolling code anyhow? Shouldnt happen more than a couple of times at the most.

You can only reprogram remotes with diag equipment, and the key wouldnt start the car even if the laser cut blade was the same which is very unlikely.

Yes the code are rolling....but its to with the way the alarm fob closing the car and not the vag fob. closure with the alarm some how allows another vag fob to program into the car in place of one of the 2 vag fobs.

This is a security risk! but i dont know how to fix it....the other key will not start the car, but the point is there is a potential some one can still nick all your stuff!!! the alarm will sound but who care about that!

Kenny have u tried your other vag fob to see if it still opens your car....i dont think it should.
