Has any1 ever fitted a tow bar to there fabia ""VRS"" ?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has attempted to fit one because it doesn't list a toeing curb weight in the log book

and the back bumper is really low and curves back under the car quite far.

Ive fitted one on my old fabia sdi and that was a piece of p***.

if anyone can help please get in touch cheers

saw a 04 plate vrs with 1 on earlier actually, cant tell you anymore tho im afraid emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

There's one at my work, they have a small cut out from the rear bumper. iirc it's illegal to fit them to a car without it stated on the logbook. you need to get it tested or something.

hi i have saw a couple with towbars fitted

but ironically ur not a loud to tow anything

u r however aloud to have a bike rack fitted

i have heard of a fellow was stopped by the police

in england for towing and got points

so its not looking too good for me then lol

Pop into your local MOT test centre and ask about it. Or someone will post on here who will know

Towing and vRS are two words that don't mix!

Y

do u say that as a mater of interest :wonder:

I wouldn't want to ruin a sports hatch with a towbar! Probably just me! :D

I always cringe when I see a decent car with a towbar!

Hmm I mite be wrong but i dont think it would be advisable to fit a towbar to the vrs, i think its too do with the dual mass fly n clutch setup. I used to own a leon cupra r exactly the same dual mass fly n clutch and this was a no no. NOT that i'd have wanted to anyhow.

and the biggest question is WHY :wonder:

Stuart

what way would it effect the dual mas fly wheel

cheers

Skoda never got the VRS type approved for towing - so technically its illegal as its not got a towing weight listed on the V5! However I have spoken to Vosa about it and they said that it could be done it you use the lower powered 1.9TDi 100bhp weights as a guideline. but they said dont quote them on that (but i just did.........)

I doubt it, a 1.9TDI Fabia has a DMF and you can legally fit a towbar to one of those.

People have fitted them to vRSs and it has been discussed on here many times before. I still don't know why it is now allowed, it's a bit like the 50mph limit on the spare wheel.

The Fabia vRS was not designed (or homologated) to have a tow bar fitted so it may invalidate your insurance if you do.

Nothing to do with the clutch or flywheel. I`m pretty sure its purely down to the rear bumper. Every other fabia is ok to tow. Its all about rules and regs, as soon as the rear bumper is needing to be "adjusted" IE, cut the bumper, thats it, needs to be inspected again. This means technically its not legal, although im sure it`d take very little to make it so.

It's perfectly simple: a towbar will fit if you cut the rear apron, but as stated above the vRS is not type-approved for a towbar, which may give you a legal/insurance problem.

i dont no if its down to cutting the rear bottom bit of the bumper

i used to work for indespension and some of the cuts we had to make in some bumper

jmoa though
