Facelift Fabia - first few days

Featured Replies

We've just taken ownership of a new Fabia S facelift model. Had originally ordered a Fabia 1 then found out about facelifted model. Dealer agreed to change our order and honour price and discount.

After much deliberation we went for the 12v 70hp model in bright silver. We have now completed 700 miles in the last ten days - a mix of town, motorway and A roads. The engine pulls well and seems quite flexible with surprising torque for such a small lump. I was always a little wary of buying a three cylinder engined model because of refinement issues but the Fabia isn't too bad - it has a bit of a growl under power, but cruising is fine and subdued - certainly much better than a raucous and throaty Vauxhall Corsa we tried.

There is plenty of power for the average small car user - can't imagine what the VRS would be like! We're still treating it gently as it's 'running in' but it cruises happily at 70 and so far has returned an average of 46mpg.

Likes: build quality, economy, comfort, spacious cabin

Dislikes: seat backrest adjustment knob (stiff), petrol filler cap/flap (grazed knuckles)

Would like to fit lower glovebox lid (we intended to have this fitted as a build option but was mistakenly left off the order). How easy would this be to do?

So far so good. . .

I'm glad you like it. I belive the 1.2 HTPs were recently revised and they are now a bit quieter, which sounds like your experience. A lot of people like this engine.

I can't advise you on the glovebox cover I'm afraid.

Are you going to download any pictures?

Are you going to download any pictures?

Will do so when I get some sorted in the next day or so.

Sounds like they improved the engine then. Enjoy the new car :)

My TSI is pretty brisk, the vRS must be absolutely mental :o
