front wipers cut out

Featured Replies

Hello all,

got a problem with my r-reg felicia, sometimes front wipers just cut out at top of arc and stay there, (happens on fastest wiper speed) using 'wash' and fiddling with stalk seems to get them going again.

I've been living with the fault, but other day in very heavy rain, wipers cut-out and stayed dead for minutes, I had to pull over, if I'd been on the motorway it would have been very dangerous. Happened several times on that journey home in the heavy rain. Now they're working again fine (on all speeds and intermittent) and I can't get them to cut out, tried wiggling stalk and elec cable into wiper motor.

I know the there's a fuse, a relay, the stalk and the wiper motor with linkages involved in this, but I'm not sure where to start.

Cheers

If they're stopping like that, I'd think the most likely suspects are bad electrical contacts. These can at least be pulled apart, cleaned and tightened. The other possibility is an intermittant short or break somewhere, and even auto electricians hate those!

I feel your pain. My new fabia elegance has just started to do the same.

If the wiring looks ok another good thing to check is the wiper motor brushes.
