Sachs performance clutch fitted!

Featured Replies

Had it all finished off yesterday, feels so much different to before, will take a bit of getting used to, its either on or off!!!

Just a quick question though when pulling away in first gently (not racing) and i ride it a bit i can feel quite a lot of vibration, only way i can put it is when the friction plate is starting to wear, that type of vibration (but not as bad)!

Is this normal or not??

If fitted to a used flywheel you can sometimes experience judder when taking up the clutch..

I'd give it some time, your clutch may wear together with the flywheel and the judder will go..

Give it a while and see if it gets better..

Kev

you want to try mine :giggle:

It pulls really well now just take your foot off the clutch a bit and it wants to surge fowards quick, now even harder to tame the beast!! definatly worth doing, as long as you dont mind a stiff clutch and not much play when riding the clutch, using the handbrake a lot more now insted of resting it on the clutch (bad habit i know) but now you really cant do that.

Heard mixed reviews on the smf, sure its better, but at what cost e.g gear box plus for what im running its not worth 300 quid, i spent it on brakes which in theory will make you faster than the smf anyway, the longer you can keep your foot on the gas and shorter on the brake= faster than the other car that had to brake sooner. I put a longish review on one of the threads a while back explaining smf's (what i was told not what i know!) cant be arsed to go back into it again!

Am not sure wot set up am gonna use!

Either a new dmf with a sachs up-rated clutch or a smf helix set up!! Dunno!!!

Im going helix. See no reason to spend £250 extra for a sachs that does the same job.

Matt

Aint they both roughly the same price shy off 1k??

smf/helix is 1k + fitting....

but be warned... :o

The noise but its naff all, smf set up's should only be considered if your going down the hybrid turbo route! Or if noise at idle doesnt bother you!

Saying that im on a sach with dmf at over 200bhp and its holding its own has done for 40k however the dmf is starting to poop itself and rattles about a bit

Warned about wot mate?

as i said great set up...but clutch bite is unforgiving...and noise at tickover is " loud :giggle: "

once on the move its fine tho...

I loved the bite! You need a strong foot though! Gear changes on the move are amazing just bangs in :D

Ahh the noise, i see. I`m getting a hybrid 150, so its kinda needed. My mate has a SMF on his fabia, we`ve nicknamed him the ice cream van now. B) Doesnt fuss me tbh, im happpy if it moved swiftly when i prod the pedal :D

Thanks

Matt
