Anyone know what these fault codes mean

Featured Replies

Had a quick go with VAGCOM and the following error codes have popped up any idea what they could be before I pop along to the garage. The car is a 2009 Octavia vRS under warrenty

1 Fault Found:

03156 - Sensor for Anti-Theft System (G578)

004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

Wild guessing since there's no obvious connection between these and they seem too unlikely to appear together like this.

- Had a low battery recently?

- Disconnected any wiring looms temporarily?

Given they're all intermittents, i'd clear the codes and check again after a day then after a week. I'd check & re-inflate your tyres then hold the tyre pressure reset button for 2 secs to ensure that one's in tip top.

Hope this helps!

everything seems to be working all ok. No actual reason to run a check I was just testing the new cable and learning how to use it. I will clear down the fault codes and see if they re-appear.

I did however find a useful website giving some information of fault codes if it is of any use to anyone http://www.gerritspeek.nl/vag-com_foutcodeslijst.html

cheers mute I was just concered that I should be taking it into the garage.

One thing I will say is the parking sensors played up the other day registering I was very close to something even though nothing was near. Sensors at the front then went all together, then came back with the same thing on the other side and now are fine.

Possible random germlin?

Yeah i guess it's possibly just a random issue but if it keeps up like this i'd be looking for leaks or pools of water somewhere or disturbed wiring / connectors. Failing that i'd be looking at removing and cleaning (with switch cleaner and a toothbrush) all connectors and plugs on ECU etc.

Best doing the easy stuff / first steps yourself before handing off to a garage. It doesn't cost you anything to begin the diagnostics, you don't want to be paying someone £65 / hour + to do something thats very easy but time consuming.
