New Octy vRS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys (and Girls)

My boss said i can have a new car, i got the old vrs at the moment, and love it, so i mentioned the new vrs, and he said yep no problem

What do you reckon is best to go for, is there much difference between the petrol and diesel versions?

Is the estate much bigger than the hatch, or should i just stick with the hatch?

Any other opinions on stuff would be greatly received

thanks

Steve

I can't say, but I am jealous..

The diesel feels marginally quicker than a Mk1 petrol VRS, the petrol feels quite a bit quicker. The diesel has bags of torque but on paper it's slower 0-60 etc.

IIRC with the petrol you can tune them up to silly figures (260bhp) without even changing the turbo.

If it was me I would go for the diesel estate but that's just coz it's more practical and economical yet still feels quicker than my Mk1. And I could chuck all my fishing gear in the back! I think if I went for the petrol I would regret it in terms of tax, insurance and running costs in the long run. But it's horses for courses!

DSG is good fun but I would only go for it over manual if (as in your case) it's a company car and not a private buy as it's ££££s to fix if it goes wrong out of warranty, if it's a company car then that's the company's money not yours.

Hmm....This is the thing, I love the petrol one I have, and has served me well for 8 years (with still only 90k on the clock), so I am veering towards the Petrol estate, in the blue colour, tax, insurance and fuel all paid for so no worries there

I have never felt the need to tune the one I have, but i'm gonna pop to the showroom later, to see the difference between the estate and the hatch, and get some Idea's on the colours, I have the red at the moment, so fancy a change, love the yellow, but not that brave, black estate a bit to hearsey, silvers boring as everything is silver, and hate white cars, so blue looking fave
