I hope someone can help, I have just fitted a cruise control stalk to my Octavia but my local garage cannot update the ECU, is it dealer only access or does anyone know someone in the Bristol area who can do it?? Thanks.

The loom is fitted all that is needed is the ccs switched on in the ecu but I dont know anyone with the device which is rather expensive.

Where "near" Bristol are you? I have vag-com so could probably enable it (if I can find the instructions!) I sometimes go back to East Harptree to visit my parents (they are south of Bristol, out up Dundry Hill, past Chew Valley lake and head towards Wells/Priddy).

Otherwise there is a list on here of ppl with vag-com who are prepared to help - have a look in the vag-com forum.

I live in Bishopsworth which is in South Bristol and work at Bristol Airport which is close to East Harptree! I do have the VW instructions which came with the stalk if that helps you!

Thanks for the help, however I am driving to Switzerland in week or two and would like it sorted before then, might try to contact someone on the VAG thread! The stalk was £79 on Ebay, complete with loom and instructions, I think it was Teeside VW the seller. I got a quote from Clist and Rattle (dealers) £249 so got to be cheaper to do it yourself. Airbag is no problem as long as you disconnect the battery and treat it with care, the rest is just fiddly and despite the instructions, dont take the wiper off for access to the bulkhead plugs, do it from the inside. As I say its a little fiddly but just take your time. If you need any more help with it please give me a shout!!
