Im new to this site but not to Skoda,

I had a Fabia Classic 1.4 8v ( Y reg ) which did me very well until recently when i decided to replace it ( Im no mechanic and the head gasket was on its way out)

I have a bad back and have been unable to find another make of car as comfy so ...

Can anyone tell me : is the Fabia Ambience 1.2 ( 07 Reg) the same chassis and therefore seat / peddle positioning or is it a different 'footprint'? It seems to be this which makes all the difference to my back.

Hello and welcome. They share the same chassis, but having sat in my brother 10 plate Fabia the seating position seems higher than the mark 1 Fabia. Best road test one.

And my driver seat was in the lowest position. The seat does seem to be a bit higher than the Mk1, the 07 plate car will be the same. It may be a bit of an illusion with the dashboard being bigger though, so you need to test drive one to be sure it will be OK for you.
