Might help a little on the really hot days. But unlikely it will make a noticeable difference. Unless perhaps you notice any slight power loss during hard driving as things get hot?

Cheap/free mod to do though so very much worth it. The similar but more powerful vag cars have it so why shouldn't we! Only thing to be careful of, is that if you're just drilling holes rather than putting a vent in, then you may find that over time, muck off the road gets flicked through the holes and possibly on to the intercooler. In the long run this would make it worse then having no holes at all as the air won't be able to pass through the matrix. So worth thinking about using a vent unless you plan on cleaning the intercooler every now and again. emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

A common mod, a lot of people use the tt inner liner and cut the vent out of that

Or the pikey version, where you cut the hole and cover it with a galvanised louvre vent for a hut or greenhouse, about £5 from most DIY places and garden centres.
