Registering imported Octavia for UK Warranty?

Featured Replies

I am picking up my new vRS on Friday from Motorpoint of Derby, it has been imported from Cyprus it is brand new and has only 12 miles on the clock. I believe that there is a standard 2 years warranty with all European Skoda's.

Does anybody know the best way of getting it registered with Skoda uk for the warranty? Is there a charge? I only ask because it cost me

Hello Carlos ...........BTW I love your username .......... :D

Sorry , I can't help with your question though ....... :)

My friend bought a Fiat Bravo from Cyprus and he had a hell of a problem with a number of insurance companies as they all stated the vehicle imported was not up to UK speck. Had you had any problem getting insurance for your car?

I used www.Confused.com and stated that the car was imported but UK spec which I believe it is. They do a search with numerous companies and came back with a quote of

According to Skoda UK's FAQS, imported vehicles purchased and registered after 1st November 2001 will be provided with a 2 year manufacturer warranty. That may not be entirely accurate because I believe that Skodas manufactured in India only have a one year warranty. But as Cyprus is an EU member, and your car was presumably also manufactured in the EU, the 2 year warranty should apply. I think you would be best advised to contact Skoda UK Customer Services for a definitive answer.

Thanks for that DGW,

The first place I will visit tomorrow will be my local Skoda dealer I will ask there. I don't think they will be too dissapointed that I have bought an imported vRS as they could only get hold of 1 New one in red( I wanted silver) when I enquired about buying from them, and after all they will be getting my custom for servicing and any warranty work.

I have paid an extra

I remember when I was looking to buy an imported clio 182, as long as it with imported from within the EU then it would come with a 3 year warranty, but If it came from outside the EU then it only came with a 2 year warranty.

Shouldn't Skoda also give 3 years if came from within the EU?

3rd year of Skoda warranty is Dealer backed isn't it ?

I believe so yeah

2 years on Import is what im told as long as its registered.

3rd year of Skoda warranty is Dealer backed isn't it ?

3rd year was also dealer backed with Reno, but I'm sure there was some EU rulling that said they had to offer 3 years on imports too.

I'm pretty sure they only used to give 1 year on imports, which was increased to 2 years after some EU ruling or other.

3rd year is discretionary IIRC

It will be Skoda UK (or their agents) who have to approve any warranty work (not the dealer who does the work) so I would check with Skoda UK customer services as Denis suggested.

just out of interested, how much are you paying for your vRS? Is it the

Are imports still coming with 16" alloys?

And without climatronic...

And without a 6 cd changer...

and with a centre armrest...

I don't see why Skoda should be any different,

and with a centre armrest...

really? So your not really saving anything then, lower spec car, although armrest would be nice (

The full terms of SkodaAuto's new vehicle warranty are in the Articles section here. The relavant bit states:

SkodaAuto are pleased to provide a two year unlimited mileage warranty against defects in material or manufacture on all its new vehicles. In addition SkodaAuto U.K. provides a further warranty on new vehicles supplied by them, through their appointed retailer network which is valid until the vehicle has completed 60,000 miles or the end of the third year, whichever is the sooner. In the event of a vehicle becoming defective due to faulty manufacture or material, it must be promptly returned to an appointed Skoda Retailer where it will be repaired free of charge.

The warranty commences on the date of delivery to the first user. It is transferable to a second and subsequent owner on completion of the transfer form in the customer literature wallet.

To obtain the full benefit of this warranty it is essential that the vehicle is properly serviced in accordance with the Manufacturer's instructions.

SkodaAuto UK also offer 3 year's breakdown cover along with the third year of cover mentioned above.

I picked up my Octavia vRS at dinnertime and first impressions are what a fantastic car I know we are going to have a long meaningful relationship together :couple:

All did not go quite according to plan though I stopped to get petrol in the garage next to motorpoint, and within 100metres I noticed a thumping noise coming from the back end stopped and found a self tapping bolt sticking out of the thread of my rear passenger side tyre. I managed to get it out by turning it and went straight to kwik fit, they checked it and said it should be ok if had'nt already deflated.

As for the equipment it has 17" wheels Cd boot changer rear parking sensors and ESP as earlier stated. I spoke to the main dealer and they said that ESP could be fitted to a standard vRS but at the cost of

Hi Carlos, I picked up my Octavia Vrs about 1 month ago and after 3000 miles I've still got a smile on my face. I also bought from MotorPoint so I'm interested in what your local dealer says about your warranty.

My car is the same spec as yours, 17" alloys, Climatronic, ESP, 6CD changer, Parking Sensors. Great value for money.

Enjoy!
